Attendance Tips!

General Information:

No smoking. Peace-bind historic weapons and leave modern ones at home.

This event is fundamentally about wandering about on foot and seeing cool things in a public park. Alcohol is sold onsite. Sunscreen's recommended.

Please be in good enough health to wander a park or be prepared to pace yourself. Water and a support crew. It's a large park. Handicap parking is available, as are occasional spots to sit.

Kearney Park:

We are very happy to be able to be @ Kearney Park. It's a beautiful park, that we have grown attached to over the years. But there are some quirks.

Kearney park has a Vehicle Entrance Fee. $5 per vehicle.
The County maintains and administers this, even during the Fair.

Wait times

Kearney Park Renaissance Fayre strains the capacity of the road network. We are just that popular ><. Nevertheless, it's a bad experience.

So this is a battle that we are fighting, and have been fighting for a while. Here's what has/is being done-

2024: Increased ticketing crews

2025: Park before Tickets.

2026: Increased Signage/Better Website Directions

The Vehicle Entrance Fee is County mandated and administered, and largely out of our hands.

Please have the $5 per vehicle fee ready to go. The person behind you will thank you. We will thank you. That's all we can do.

With more people to help, we could considerably speed the traffic flow. Our main limitation right now is manpower. We simply don't have enough.

They work long and hard for all of us.

Costuming Ideas:

Costumes tend to be a lot of fun, and are completely optional.

Our court dresses very differently than our belly dancers. We love both. The Costumes worn by our Guilds and Vendors tend towards the historic, with a little ‘pirate’ thrown in, but varies wildly based on guild/area of interest.

As a “Traveler”, you have even more latitude- both historic, and fantasy themed outfits are very common.

Feel free to indulge, both generic and fandom related ones. Directly referencing a fandom tends to come across more strongly, often in a ‘cool’ or ‘awesome’ way.

‘off the shelf’ Cosplay is more ‘bold’ than you might expect it to be. This is because of Ren Fair's dust, and generally matte aesthetics.

These color or texture clashes can be overcome with planning, skill, and enthusiasm.When they are, the results can be very impressive.

Bold and timid do not mix.

Know what you are getting yourself into and bring plenty of confidence and skill if you go for a Comic-Con style Superhero or Fur suits.

Accents, like ears, tails, wings and horns are common, and tend to look amazing.

Cheezy outfits also tend to work, and have more leeway when worn sufficiently ironically. Amuse yourself and us. We love it!

We've seen and done a lot over the years.
But Y'all are inventive- as a community, you have collectively done SO much more.
